Our History
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, and outreach and advocacy activities.The Chattanooga Area SWE section chartered September 2007.
Our Mission
Stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.

One of our SWE members, Danielle Lancianese, was chosen to receive national recognition for her contributions to manufacturing industry. She has been awarded the Women In Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award. The STEP Ahead Award honors women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers. We are so proud of you Danielle!
